The Wizards paid Ian “Iannis Mahintokounmpo” Mahinmi a lot of money during the offseason. 60 million over 4 years, on the basis of a couple middling season with the Pacers. Maybe you could upgrade his last one with them to be “solid”. I certainly did a lot of vids of him that year, vids that no one at all watched.
So, he got paid. That’s great, that’s how America works, I’m happy for him. Problem is, he immediately got his knee injured, keeping him out of all but one(?????) game until he finally came back for good a month ago. That’s the risk with these big-ass contracts; basketball as a sport is very tough on the joints, and before you know it one of your dudes is severely limited because every movement hurts like heck.
Mahinmi has been back for a month now, and this is the first game where he actually did a decent amount of good stuff. Not 15 million worth of good stuff, but a decent amount. Some of his seven steals were questionable, but I can’t even blame home-cooking for this one, so I’ll roll with it. Combine his active hands with some finishing around the rim and you have something to build off of as the Wizards push for whatever seed it is that they’re pushing for.
