It was over for the Knicks in this game as soon as Brook Lopez canned 5 triples in the first quarter. What are you supposed to do as a team when that happens? Once something like that goes down, it’s just a matter of lowering yourself into the coffin and closing the lid. Nothing else to be done about it.
It didn’t matter that Lopez didn’t do much of anything for the rest of the game. The fatal damage had already been inflicted. He could have laid down at center court and made court angels for the entire second half. Or just pretend he was Carmelo Anthony and not move at all. Now those would be some highlights. These are pretty good anyway, on account of the 6 threes (he did manage to hit another one). Eventually teams will stop giving him that shot, but we might have to wait until next year for that. After all, he is only shooting 34% on almost all wide open attempts.
