Wayne Ellington 19 Points/5 Threes Full Highlights (3/12/2017)

Wayne “Beef W” Ellington is currently attempting more catch-and-shoot shots per game (5.6) than noted catch-and-shooters like J.J. Redick, Kyle Korver, and J.R. Smith. The speed and accuracy which with the ball flies out of his hand on these jumpers is impressive. I don’t see any reason why Ellington wouldn’t have been able to do this in past seasons other than his coaches didn’t know how to use him/his teammates hated him for possessing such a high level of shooting skill.

Another thing to note about the Waynemaker is that over two-thirds of his shots come from behind the arc; he had never before exceeded 50% threes in his career. Evidently, somebody told him that shots taken from behind that line are worth one more point than shots taken inside the line. I don’t know if there are any long-time Ellington fans out there (probably not) who resent the new “three-point specialist” Ellington and want the old Ellington to come back, but this is the new NBA and in the new NBA players like Ellington do what they have to do to stay relevant. And nothing says “relevant” more than seven DTB videos this season alone!
