Though he’s put together only a small portfolio, it’s looking like Shawn Long is one of those “diamonds in the rough” that the 76ers’ endless player churn sometimes turns up. Eventually, one or two of those D-League call-ups end up being someone you can play on a real team that is trying to win real games. Long is that guy!
His advanced stats are sick. 23 and 12 and 2 and 1.5 and 2 per 36, over 60 percent shooting, does that remind you of anyone? That’s right! He’s like a worse-passing Giannis Antetokounmpo! Obviously, his sample size is very small, but it’s big (or LONG, hehehehe) enough to get me hyped. We’ll have to wait until next year to see what he can do in a more normal setting, assuming he gets re-signed. If he doesn’t, I’m sure there will be some team who’ll give him the run he now deserves
