By my estimation, exactly two out of twelve field goals made by Joe Johnson last night were set up by a teammate of his. The other ten were strictly the result of Johnson’s isoing tendencies, tendencies which have fairly earned him the nickname “Iso Joe”.
With Gordon Haywards’ minutes being extremely limited due to food poisoning, the Jazz obviously had to do something different offensively. What better way to replace the lost ball movement of Hayward than with repeated isolation plays for one of the more talented isolation scorers in the league? It’s not like the Jazz are replete with better options. They might as well check to see if Johnson is having one of his hot games where even a great defender like Luc Mbah a Moute can’t stop him, and just forget about Jamal Crawford.
And, as if to prove that he’s not a total ballhog, Johnson accrued five assists as well. I didn’t want to show them since they run counter to the main goal of this video, which is to highlight Johnson’s scoring ability, but I decided to make use of an advanced cinematographic technique called “contrast”. I’m “contrasting” Johnson’s passing with his scoring to create a more tense, exciting viewing experience. Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m a genius.
