Sometimes I like to go back and watch the old HoopMixTapes of current NBA players and think about how, when the vid was made, that no one knew they would be dominating in the actual big leagues. Yeah, a lot of people assumed, but they assume that about every player that has a hype-video made for them. And I don’t see Aquille Carr in the league anywhere, do you?
Those kind of vids maybe do more harm than good, since these are just kids we’re talking about, but it all worked out in the end for Aaron Gordon, who had one of the sickest high-school mixtapes ever, and somehow translated some of those things into legit NBA skills. He is certainly one of the few hyper-athletic freaks to develop a usable jumper. Who could have anticipated that? He needs to go around the country offering clinics for similarly muscle-fibered people, teaching them his secrets to an NBA career.
