Joe Young Career High 20 Points Full Highlights (12/31/2017)

The Pacers’ starters were laughably ineffective tonight against the Timberwolves. I don’t think any of them even scored in the first quarter. With most of his firepower misfiring, Nate McMcmillan turned to his secret weapon, long buried in the depths of the bench, and unleashed him on an unsuspecting Aaron Brooks… Joe Young! We’ve all been waiting for this moment for a long time, years now, and it’s about 50 percent as good as I was expecting. Your percentage may be a little higher, or lower if you think he’s a beast who could score 30 on a regular basis if he wasn’t getting held down by Cory Joseph.

Young showed a limited amount of promise during a small stretch of his rookie season. Like, 3 or 4 games in January, he looked like a legit backup PG. I don’t know what happened after that other than he disappeared totally the season after that, and is only now starting to reemerge. Realistically, if he was anything other than a backup at this point, he would’ve shown it by now, so there’s no use getting too hyped about this particular game. It’s just a good game by a not-good player, not an indication of anything special to come.

Unless your definition of “special” is multiple double-digit games. Because I can totally envision that happening after tonight.
