Luke Kennard did almost all of his damage in the last half of the fourth quarter in this one. He hit a three early, and then tried to will the Pistons to a victory with his sweet shooting stroke and incredible, blinding whiteness. It didn’t work. Next time, start a little earlier buddy. Being clutch is only important when you can also be good for other parts of the game.
He must be doing something right though, because Stan Van Gundy keeps giving him plenty of minutes even though he hates rookies/the rookie mistakes they make. He certainly looks the part of “guy who might be good or might not be but we’ll never know because he never gets minutes”, but we get to find out the answer, happily. He’s good! Or, okay! Okay is closer to the reality of the situation, I guess.
Meanwhile, Henry Ellenson can’t get even garbage minutes anymore. Don’t think my beef (beeves to be accurate) with Van Gundy are over just because Kennard gets to play. Far from it.
