Jarrett Allen is a 43% three-point shooter. His only problem is his extremely low, bordering on anemic, volume from the threezone: he’s 3 of 7 for the season. That hardly qualifies him as a “stretch five”, but then again, maybe it does a little bit. It’s hard to extract meaningful information from so few shot attempts, but I’m going to attempt to anyway:
Allen obviously has decent enough mechanics. He has no problem getting the ball to where it needs to go. My guess is he only shoots when he’s wide open, but there’s a lot of stretch bigs who only shoot the open ones, so that’s not a knock on him. Since he’s only attempted seven threes this season, he’s clearly not looking to get that shot, and he’s probably not pulling a Mo Speights and just camping out there waiting for the pass. He might miss his next twenty attempts and everything I write here will be looked back on as the most misguided drivel ever written, but you can’t blame me for being optimistic. Remember, I wanted the Bucks to draft this guy. My Twitter timeline is proof enough of that.
