You gotta give Blake Griffin credit. He knows he can’t get up like he used to, he knows that he robbed JaVale McGee of a dunk contest trophy, but he still went up there and tried to pack it on Jarrett Allen. Even though it didn’t work at all, it was nice to see him at least try and not just sulk around behind the arc and jack long jumpers all game. Way to go, Blake!
I do dunks of the year videos. Why not blocks of the year? I don’t know, probably because I’m too lazy and I statedly do not care about defense, but this one by Allen would have to be top 10. Just brutal. I was giving Griffin props for trying, but I’m now starting to feel sad about the whole thing.
Another sad thing is that Allen looked like he was on his way to a career night but totally fizzled out in the second half. Those threes that he hit aren’t going to be a constant in his game for another few years probably, and he’s still the type of player who is prone to disappear for stretches with nothing to show for his minutes but fouls. That’s fine. When he’s doing stuff, I still maintain that he is one of the most fun players in the league. His hair alone increases his fun-ness two- or threefold.
