The Lakers are still under .500 10 games into the season, so that means it’s time for LeBron’s favorite time of the year: trade season! As GM of the Lakers, he gets to decide which players stay and which players go. He also gets to handpick a new coach if he wants, but that’s not what we’re talking about right now. We’re talking about savvy dealing, about backroom deals made in a haze of cigar smoke, about cloaks as well as daggers.
We’re talking about Kyle Kuzma.
Should the Lakers trade him? Depends on the deal, as always. He is widely beloved in Los Angeles, drawing admiring chants of “KUUUUUZ” every time he scores. But that belovedness makes him a tempting target for other teams, and perhaps the Lakers can make a push for the playoffs better with someone else. Don’t hate. Any good GM explores all his options.
Luckily for LeBron, I’ve done all the work already and come up with a trade that satisfies all parties: Kyle Kuzma for Thon Maker. The Lakers get a center which they need, and the Bucks get another piece to dominate the East with. Maker is really, really good. Super good. I love him, and it would hurt if he weren’t in Milwaukee for sure. Because of how good at basketball he is. Just trust me on this, no need to watch highlights or look at stats or anything. He’s good. They should trade for him.
