Before I made these highlights, I was speculating on why Antonio Blakeney didn’t get any minutes in this game after the beginning of the fourth quarter. I figured that Zach LaVine had gotten so hot by that point that Hoiberg didn’t want to play him with a guy who doesn’t pass. Maybe that guess is correct; I don’t have any connections with Hoiberg’s camp so I can’t ask him directly. But here are the facts we know:
-Blakeney is averaging less than one assist per 36 minutes. The only other guard that bad in comparable minutes is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Shout-out to Carmelo Anthony.
-Blakeney is an ISO scoring machine and had multiple possessions where he pretended he was championship-era Kobe Bean.
-Stacey King was clearly getting annoyed with Blakeney’s tunnel vision.
-Blakeney missed several shots in a row before getting yanked from the game (I did not watch these shots)
So, with all those facts presented, I can make certain assumptions without even having to watch the whole game. And the assumption I’m making now is: Antonio Blakeney is only an asset on the court in certain situations, and you have to get him out of the game quickly if his chucking gets out of control.
