Greg Monroe still thinks he is better than Andre Drummond. I think he thought while they were playing together, the way he played against the Pistons while with the Bucks made me think he still did, and now he’s dominated him again. Maybe he didn’t directly score all 17 of his points against Drummond tonight, but only because everyone on the Pistons knew what would happen if that matchup were allowed to occur. And, yeah, his team didn’t win the game. But I don’t see how that’s his fault at all.
It’s been sad to see Monroe rotting on the very end of the bench. He’s not that bad, people! Sure, his player archetype is out of date, but that doesn’t mean that he’s utterly worthless on the court. He can still get buckets, and last time I checked, that was the whole god-damn point of the game. And if you want more than buckets, he can pass as well. Don’t forget that he got a triple-double at the end of last year. You almost forgot, didn’t you? For shame.
In the absence of Serge Ibaka, The Moose was unleashed, and the results were predictable. He was simply too much to handle on the inside. Even Zaza Pachulia and his old-man strength couldn’t handle him. This is, possibly, the least aesthetic highlight vid I’ve made this year, but I’m so happy to have made it. Monroe deserves better than the marginalization he has received this season.
