No one is talking about how bad Allen Crabbe has been this year. Nets fans are, maybe, just a little bit, but when it comes to everyone else? No. He is SO BAD, so utterly bad at shooting so far, so where’s the criticism? If there’s one thing I’ve learned after all these years, it’s that people love trashing players who are sucking. I do it all the time, and it’s great fun. It’s even better when the sucky player is getting paid a huge amount of money and, oh yeah, Crabbe definitely checks that box big time.
Short version: Allen Crabbe is getting paid 18 million this year to shoot sub-30 percent from the field.
Long version: the same as the short version but with additional adjectives like “ludicrous”, “god-awful”, and “repugnant”.
He was good tonight, admittedly. But that doesn’t excuse all the people who weren’t even going on his twitter and sending him hilariously vulgar messages about how he sucked. You can’t say “oh I knew he was going to eventually have a good game so I decided not to trash him relentlessly by calling his place of residence and placing mean-spirited voicemails on his answering machine”. Obviously he was going to eventually break out of his slump. And now it’s too late. He’s good again.
