Damian Jones is the next in a long line of centers who get to look really good on the Warriors thanks to the fact that they play on a team stacked with All-Stars and aren’t expected to shoot any shots other than the ones they can reasonably make. How good Jones actually is, however, is a point of discussion. And the real question is: is Jones better right on the Warriors than B.J. Mullens would be if you used a time machine to kidnap him while he was in his prime?
Mullens was a bit of a spaz who liked shooting jumpers, but I think you could corral him on this Warriors team so that he only catches lobs and finishes putbacks except in emergency situations where the jumper is required. Meanwhile, I don’t believe that Jones has any kind of jumpshot in his arsenal, which is both a negative (one less thing defenders have to play him for) and a positive (one less thing that he’ll try to do just because he can).
Next question: would it be ethical to kidnap B.J. Mullens and resurrect his career by having him play on a team stacked with All-Stars? When considering this question, remember that time travel is a very traumatic experience, especially for those who are not expecting it, so the kidnapping is perhaps less ethical than it would be were time travel not to have this effect on its subjects.
