A very Jokic-esque statline for Jamal Murray tonight: 22 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists. Except for the whole points part. Nowadays Jokic would never score that many, he’s too busy doing his thing to bother with the buckets part of the game.
I’m still feeling residual hype from Murray’s 48-point game, but reserves are running low, since in the 9 games between then and now he’s scored between 11 and 18 points. Those are decent numbers, but hardly hype worthy performances. Did he curse himself by trying a three at the buzzer to give him 50 against Boston? I don’t really believe in curses or hexes or spells or bewitchments or what have you, but if there is a god(s) up there paying attention to basketball, I can see why he/her/they would be upset at a blatant statpadding attempt. Though that doesn’t explain why Russell Westbrook hasn’t been struck down by a bolt of lightning yet.
Normally 22 points wouldn’t do much for my hype levels, but did you see that last layup he made? That was SICK. That got me really hyped, really quick. Two replays weren’t enough for that dipsy-doo circus shot. They could make an ESPN 30-for-30 just about that shot for real.
