Man, how sweet would it have been for Marvin Bagley to tip in the game-winner at the buzzer for a win over the Larriors. That would’ve been the thing his defenders could point to when future people accused him of being a bust. “A bust? You sure about that? Because I have in my possession a video clip which shows him making a game-winner. Tell me, what other busts can you name who have game-winners?”, that would be the exacting phrasing you could use. But now you can’t, or at least not yet, because all Bagley did was wedge the ball between the rim and the backboard.
In my games of pickup, that’s where the game ends anyway because no one is athletic enough to get the ball out of there.
Tonight, though, the ball was easily retrieved thanks to the elite athleticism of NBA players, a jump-ball was performed, and THEN the game ended. With the Kings the losers and the Larriors the winners. A tough loss, but at least one that further cements the Kings as somewhat of a legit team. Their legit-ness will continue up until the point where the FO fires Joerger for not giving Bagley enough minutes, as was rumored. Sorry, Kings fans. Nothing good is ever allowed to happen to you, ever.
