It’s not a good thing when 4 games out of 20 account for two-thirds (20 out of 30) of your made three-pointers. We’re talking about Trae Young, of course, and I just can’t wait to diss him over and over again for being a chucky brickmaster these last few games.
I actually like this dude. I still think he’s going to be a good player. But he sucks at threes right now. It’s easy to point to the fact that he chucks deep ones like he’s Curry when he’s obviously not (yet), but he also sucks on threes that are actually near the line. Basically, if it’s a three, he sucks at it. Maybe he should take midrange jumpers that are the length of the college three-point line? It would be fewer points per make, but maybe more points overall. Whoa. Advanced thinking going on right now. Why don’t other teams adopt that strategy?
He’s rediscovered a bit of his touch these last two games, two games that the Hawks, coincidentally, won. This is their second winning streak of the season, if you can believe that. Now, if you’ll excuse, I’m going to gloat over the demise of Miami and the overpaid role-player symphony they have playing over there.
