With all these bad teams shuffling players around like so many deck chairs on the Titanic, the Hornets… did nothing. Well, almost nothing. They bought out Marvin Williams so he could sign with the Bucks (note: I would literally rather have Dragan Bender [who was waived to make space] than Williams, I don’t care how wrong I am). And apparently they’re buying out Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. So that will free up some rosters spots to pick up random castoffs (hopefully Dragan Bender god damn it), which I guess in the end is just a different kind of trade.
But still. The Hornets suck. Why are they (mostly) standing pat? Make some moves, drum up some excitement, you know what would’ve been fun? Andre Drummond for a half season. He could’ve been had for the price of a heavily-protected second-round pick. Gotta keep the fanbase engaged somehow, and midseason trades bring at least some fresh faces into the numbing blandness of constant losses.
They got their butts kicked again this game. Miles Bridges had 7 of his team’s 10 points in the first quarter, and that’s all that needs to be said. You’re not going to win a game where you get outscored by Stephen Curry’s deformed loris-eyed brother in thr first 12 minutes. Good on Bridges for becoming a decent enough scorer this year or whatever. Ugh. Can I stop typing now?
