This Raptors commentator dude, this Jack Armstrong, man, he has some fun catchphrases. They’re no “onions baby onions”, but the chance to hear him croaking “GET THAT GAHBAGE OUTA HEA!” is the number two reason to watch the Raptors right now, behind the chance that maybe Bruno Caboclo will maybe play. And the best part is, he sounds like he’s having fun. When the Raps are winning. When they’re losing, he and whoever that other guy is get all depressed and mopey. Must be a Candian seasonal affective disorder thing.
Norman “Stormin’ ” Powell gave Mr. Armstrong a lot of chances to be excited tonight, with his pair of big dunks and general positive play in the fourth quarter. Bradley Beal might be salty about the calls that he got tonight, but he was legit putting pressure on the defense and making serious contributions next to DeMar DeRozan. Of course, he’s done such things before, and he can never sustain it for more than a few games, so I won’t get to excited about this particular performance. Raptors fans, however, are free to get excited as they wish. Maybe they can even clamor for Powell to replace Lowry as the starting PG.
