Yawn. Who cares about some lanky Euro guy scoring his 30,000th point? The REAL highlight of last night’s Mavs-Lakers game was getting to watch a thing called “Quinn Cook” score ten points on 4-of-6 shooting. You know, truth be told, I’m pretty sure Quinn Cook could score 30,000 points in the NBA if you simply gave him enough time and enough shot attempts. He’s already 23, so he’s getting a little bit of a late start, but if he played into his fifties and his teams let him shoot as much as he wanted, 30,000 would not only be within range, it would be easily attained.
The main question is not whether Cook is capable of scoring 30,000 career points, but whether he is better than the dude who shares his last name, Daequan Cook. Daequan seems to win based on points alone, as he owns a career 6.4 per game average against Quinn’s 5.4. However, looking at advanced stats like field goal percentage and assists tell an entirely different tale (who says DownToBuck isn’t just as smart as those fancy analysts with their blogs?): Quinn absolutely DESTROYS Daequan when it comes to FG% (45.8 to 36.9 LOL) and APG (2.4 to 0.7 DOUBLE LOL).
Similar stat-finding expeditions reveal to me that Quinn Cook is also better than Brian Cook. There’s a bunch more Cooks who have been in the NBA but I’m too lazy to go through all of them so let’s just declare Quinn the best Cook in the NBA. Ever.
