Lauri “Pyhä Paska” Markkanen just composed his magnum opus, a stirring symphony of post-up fadeaways, three-pointers and layups. To this point, it is his finest work, but I would be not surprised at all, in fact I am expecting, that he surpass it at some point this season. The instrumentation and melodic lines fall a little flat in this one, at least compared to maestros like Porzingis.
Good stuff like this isn’t as hard to come by on the Bulls as you might think. They might not have any legit veteran talent, but they have enough youngsters that at least one of them is good for an impressive performance in any given game. Tonight was Markkanen’s turn, and it should be his turn more often than it is, probably. Not saying the Bulls aren’t putting him in the best position to succeed, but… they need to force feed him the ball like the Knicks are doing with Porzingis.
I hate to keep using that comparison, by the way. It’s way too easy. I’m going to think of a better one, right now. Alright? Right now! It’s coming, I can feel it! Any minute…
I’ve got it! Behold, the perfect comparison for Lauri Markkanen:
