Forgive me if you’ve heard this before. Talented young player balls hard and earns himself a nice big contract. Starts off the next year pretty poorly before getting into a bar fight with a bunch of Albanians and injuring his hand. Fans start to concoct homerish one-sided trade ideas.
Maybe you haven’t heard the part about the Albanians before. But everything else happens all the time. The NBA needs non-guaranteed contracts to prevent players from doing this kind of stuff.
I personally wasn’t ready to write him off quite yet, and he has come back from injury pretty well. 7 of 7 shooting is darn good even if all the shots are right at the rim. Someone must have told him that his midrange game sucked. Or maybe he realized it himself. Either way, his best work is around the basket.
Try not to get too sad over the clips of Giannis Antetokounmpo throwing a lob to Sanders on the break. Not every team can be blessed with such exciting young talent. One of the many perks of being a Bucks fan.
