Even after this perplexing (how did the Wizards come back from 24 down when they all murdered each other in the locker room at halftime?) loss, the Clippers still own a sweet 6-2 record with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander starting. That makes him one of the few starting rookies who is actually contributing to a winning team. Jaren Jackson is another, him and… that might be it. All the other rookies who start who are actually good are on teams that can’t win.
I’m sorry for doubting. I don’t think I expressed my opinions of SGA anywhere other than my burner twitter accounts, but still. I was wrong. I didn’t think he’d be very good, at least to start. But he is. Kind of.
He still has stuff to work on, because every rookie does. More assists maybe? It’s not like he’s lacking in people to pass it to who can make shots. One triple-double this season is a totally reasonable goal. Just beg Doc to put in Boban and then feed it to him over and over until BOOM you’ve got 10 dimes. Easy. Or replace Boban with Harrell, same deal.
