Donatas Motiejunas Career High 20 Points Full Highlights (3/20/2014)

There’s apparently a lively, ongoing debate among the Houston Rockets commentator crew which was brought to the fore in tonight’s game. The topic: should Donatas Motiejunas shoot threes or not?

There are arguments both ways. D-Mo is definitely capable of three-mo. Though he’s not really effective anywhere other than the corners. On the other hand, if he’s camping all the way out on the perimeter he isn’t doing what he does best, which is working around the basket with his deft post moves.

Those post moves looked a lot more deft than usual against the Timberwolves’ weak interior D. He terrorized them with a variety of hooks against smaller defenders. Way smaller. Is scoring in the post against JJ Barea really a noteworthy act for a seven-footer?

My answer to the Rockets’ commentator’s debate: mix it up like tonight. Take some threes. Hang out around the basket. Even shoot some long twos. This performance has shown his ability to affect the game in multiple ways. On offense, at least. Defense? Who cares?
