Kelly Olynyk 18 Points Full Highlights (3/23/2015)

Kelly Olynyk walked down the main street of Kamloops, distracted. D’Ambrosios pizza parlor called to him, but he did not heed. Too many memories. Although, now that he thought about it, it seemed that his hometown of Kamloops consisted entirely of memories he did not want to remember. He had made a mistake coming here in the first place.

Before he knew it, he was standing again at the front door of his parent’s house. He tried the door, and let himself in. Genevieve, the dog, shot out from an unknown place, barking madly and wagging her tail.

His parents weren’t home. All for the best, Kelly thought, since they would only ask questions. He went straight to his bedroom, to grab his stuff and leave. Turning on the light, he was overcome by emotion. There was the corner where his first keyboard had sat, the carpet still marked with indentations. The shelves that had once held his beloved LP collection, now empty. The bed where he and Elaine had loved each other…

It was time to go. Kamloops had nothing to offer him. He picked up his bags, not yet unpacked, turned around and walked out, followed by the still yapping Genevieve. Not the brightest of dogs, she did not yet realize that Kelly was anything other than a friendly stranger, and did not protest when he exited the house, never to be seen again.
