The best part of a new season is seeing some of last year’s scrubs un-scrub themselves and turn into decent role players. Like Tony Wroten. He sucked last year for the Grizzlies because he got no minutes. Or he got no minutes for the Grizzlies because he sucked. I don’t remember. Either way, he blew.
So take your big bucket of “surprised” paint and color me with it, because he’s now a good player. Well, let’s not be too hasty. He puts up some decent numbers on a team that’s blatantly tanking. But what if he was sucking on this team? What I’m trying to say, is that Wroten could be worse.
He certainly has his bad moments. Like all the threes he chucks, and those funky turnovers. But he also dunks and assists and runs around like a maniac. And he’s a tall point, which he means he’s the next Magic Johnson. I actually scoured the entire internet and counted all the times he was compared to Magic. Way too many. I swear some people just look at stats and measurables and spout off their opinions without ever having watched a minute of actual gameplay. Take it from me, Wrote-man is actually more like MJ than anything.
