When was the last time this many lottery-picked bigmen looked so legit during their rookie seasons? The 2012 draft was okay, since it had both AD’s, but it also had Thomas Robison, which cancels that out. After doing a bit of research, I suddenly don’t feel like going back very far in these drafts, seeing Hasheem Thabeet picked right after Griffin has got me feeling a little down. Let’s just say, it’s been a while since we’ve seen Centerorial dominance from the incoming class of rookies.
Kristaps Porzingis was the wildcard. Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns were pretty much guaranteed to be good. Jesus Krist, on the other hand, was seen by some (cough cough) as another Euro bust. He certainly fit the profile of one, so I can’t hate too hard. I wasn’t convinced either. Seemed just as likely that he’d break in half during his first game than put up semi-regular 20 point nights.
Him breaking in half still seems like a likely outcome, though.
