There used to be a debate on whether Ray McCallum or C.J. McCollum was the better player. Many heated words were exchanged, feelings were hurt, allegiances were challenged, and I’m pretty sure one dude got killed over it. It was either this debate or the one involving Messi and Ronaldo.
Anyway, that debate is over now, and it’s obvious who the superior player is. I’m not even going to be funny or sarcastic or anything: it’s McCollum, and anyone who disagrees is some sort of a homer or just dumb.
To be fair to McCallum, the Spurs are not a place where a fringe NBAer like him is going to get any minutes. At all. He needed a change of scenery in the worst way, because while being around a winning franchise has its benefits, playing in actual NBA games is way more valuable. The Grizzlies, decimated as they are by injuries, are the perfect landing spot for him after he got waived.
Is this 13-point performance a sign of a return to his Sacramento form? I hope so, because I want to call him a scrub a few more times and watch as Kings fans get all angry at me. Wow! Looks like I got the last laugh on that one, you frickin’ homers.
