Do you want to hear something crazy? At the beginning of the Kyrie era in Cleveland, Alonzo “Gee Whiz” Gee was the full-time starter for one season and a part-time starter for parts of two others.
Alonzo Gee. Starter.
Something about reading those words makes me want to lie down and take a nap and never wake up.
Gee Whiz has reformulated his game to minimize the things he’s bad at (shooting jumpers, passing, rebounding) and to maximize the things he’s good at (using his superior athleticism to get to the rim for big-time whamblams). The end result of this reformulation is his total inability to make an impact on the box-score despite starting half the Pelican’s games and playing over twenty minutes per contest.
There it is again. Alonzo Gee. Starting. Why do I feel so light-headed all of a sudden?
