Kelly Oubre 16 Points Full Highlights (3/25/2017)

Will Kelly Oubre ever score over 20 points? With the amount of field goals he gets to attempt, the answer is “not any time soon”. Playing next to high-usage players like John Wall and Bradley Beal can be good for young players since it means they don’t have to shoot too many shots, but it can also result in situation like Oubre’s where you don’t know how good a guy is because he never gets unleashed. In this game he barely took any shots in the flow of the offense, he just crashed the offensive glass and used his extra-long arms to snatch away rebounds for easy putbacks.

Hopefully the Wizards can lock into whatever seed they’re aiming for so that the last five games of the season can be used strictly for Oubre’s development. Don’t play Porter, don’t play Beal, let Oubre take a lot of shots, see how badly he fails, then come back the next game and see if he can fail slightly less. He might score twenty doing things this way or he might score eight on 3-of-13 shooting. Or he might get mistaken for a swimsuit model and get abducted by a group of six modeling agency henchmen wielding semi-automatic weapons. You don’t know until you try.
