All the Magic had to do to make the playoffs this year was go .500. That’s it. Not even that hard of a thing to do, considering the weakness of the Eastern Conference. Granted, the playoff talk from Magic homers wasn’t as strong as previous years, but it was still there a little bit. This season marks 5 years in a row of no playoffs, and not even really close to playoffs either. Dwight Howard really carried this team, huh?
Elfrid Payton isn’t the problem, unless you consider that he is not LeBron James, who would definitely carry this team deep into the playoffs. He’s doing the best he can, and has shown a nice improvement in efficiency from most areas on the court (just stop shooting threes please). He has good chemistry with Aaron Gordon on lobs. No, he isn’t the problem in the least bit. So what is?
I don’t even know. Once again, the Magic seem to have a good collection of talent, and once again, they completely fail to make it work. I can’t even blame Scott Skiles any more.
