Is it reasonable to say that Ben “DNP-CD” McLemore had a “revenge game” tonight against the Kings? I think it is. I don’t see any way in which this 21-point effort versus the team that spurned him/ruined his career/called him a bust right to his face was not an act of vengeance. His first game against them this season was decidedly ho-hum; this one is a much more potent performance, displaying all the things that the Kings could be having right now if they weren’t so arrogant as to think that their highly-picked youngster would never get better.
I mean, they were right to think that, because McLemore can’t even get consistent minutes on the Grizzlies (who suck BTW). But I bet he was peeved anyway. He believes in himself, the Kings didn’t, so he showed them tonight what he’s made of. He didn’t exactly lead his team to victory, but he sure helped a heck of a lot.
Not so fun fact: the Grizzlies have won 4 games this season out of the 25 he has played in. I thought I’d mention this just in case you were thinking (like I kinda was before I found this tidbit out) that he was, like, actually a good player this season.
