As this game drew closer and closer to its end, I was beginning to worry that Jamal Murray wasn’t even going to score 30. He had such a hot first half, and then a hot start to the third quarter, that 30 seemed like a forgone conclusion.
Happily for me, for you, and for fans of Maple Curry everywhere, he canned two meaningless free-throws with 30 seconds left to give him the magic number. Still a complete disappointment considering I thought he was on his way to a 40-burger, but a pretty good point total where people of the future will look back and say “Damn that night of January the nineteenth the Year Of Our Lord two-thousand and eighteen, Jamal Murray, he was Sriracha for real!”.
I say this with confidence because one year from now I will say that exact sentence. And I will count as a “person of the future”, at least from my current perspective. Maybe I will even watch this highlight vid, but probably not considering how much disappointment it has caused me. I won’t want to relive the pain.
