Damn, those alternate Heat jerseys are sick. They did their market research on this one for sure; the younger generations love that whole retro-80’s-neon-vintage-palmtrees-Miami-Vice-lasers-pink-teal-synth aesthetic. I don’t know if I’d call it vaporwave exactly, but if it isn’t, it takes a ton of cues from it. I would 100 percent be in favor of them making this a permanent change and redoing all their branding to reflect that nostalgic 80’s vibe. There’s more than enough red teams in the league, but not nearly enough PINK ones.
In other news, Wayne “Beef W” Ellington is now tied with Stephen Curry for third most threes made this year. It’ll be hard to stay ahead of that guy, considering he’s only the greatest three-point shooter the game has ever known, but I bet he could pass Harden and Thompson and take second place in that stat. It would take an increase in volume, and maybe he’d have to start shooting some where he’s not coming off a curl, but I think he can do it.
Sucks that he was disqualified from the three-point shootout this year after banking in a three from the corner this game. Right after he gets announced, he goes and blows it. I wish that he could still make his appearance, but the rules are clear: “Any player who makes a three-point shot from the corner of the basketball court using the backboard to guide the ball into the hoop is disqualified from the All-Star three-point contest.”
