Dwayne Bacon is one of those players whose just been forgotten about this season. I think there was some hype for him from his college days, maybe I’m wrong, but if there was, it’s gone now. He was such a low-volume “scorer” in his rookie year that it was hard for me to scrounge together even a single highlight vid for him.
He’s doing a little better scoring this year, but his minutes are so limited that it doesn’t matter. If you can’t even get in the game for the Hornets, people aren’t going to pay attention to you (they can barely pay attention to the Hornets players who do play). Frank Kaminsky says hi and wonders where it all went so wrong.
Tonight was kinda weird. Bacon got in the game in the first half, while the result was still definitely in question, much to the befuddlement of the commentators. When they’re asking “why is he in the game?” in an incredulous voice, that’s how you know that your career isn’t where it ought to be. But he delivered, scoring 15, by far his best game of the season and tied for the second-most points he’s ever scored.
And after his last bucket, the Philly fans started booing. Imagine, Dwayne Bacon kicking your team’s ass so bad that you have no choice but to voice your displeasure by booing.
