I have no idea what’s going on with Pascal Siakam right now. Giving him the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award was probably stretching it a bit, but he’s playing way better than I ever imagined he could. I mean, he was pretty decent last year. A fine player, made better by being part of the sickest bench unit ever assembled. But now he’s something else. He legit looks like a smoother Giannis out there. And when I say “smoother”, I mean “not as pointy-looking”. Giannis is great, but his elbows are really pointy. Siakam has a grace to him, his spin-moves are works of art.
Yes, there are spin-moves in this video. After a disappointing game where he didn’t do any, he brought it back for this one. Anthony Davis? More like Anthony Avis because he has no D.
Teams will probably figure out that they shouldn’t just let him advance the ball up the court, they’ll start playing him for the spin as well, and he’ll have to adapt. Once you get good, you start getting attention that you didn’t get before. The scouting reports start saying “don’t let him spin WHAT ARE YOU DOING HE’S SPINNING AGAIN!”. Good news is, his jumper is looking good mechanically. If he can start hitting threes consistently, man, I don’t even know if the Raptors need Kawhi Leonard after that. I’m only exaggerating a little bit here.
