DownToBuck is a man of fashion. So when I saw these Nets alternate jerseys, I knew I had to have some of the stuff that inspired them in the first place. So I searched “Biggie Smalls sweater” in the Googs, which is slightly too bad because now they think I like rap when I don’t (baroque forever bitches). A bunch of results came up, which is good, that’s the first step of a successful Google search, so I clicked on the first one which looked like some kind of webstore. Easy, right? Just put in my credit card info and get my Biggie Smalls sweater in a few business days. Wrong.
When I say that I’m a man of fashion, I mean that sometimes I think about if my shirt and pants go together, and that I change outfits at least once every couple weeks. It does not mean that I’m willing to pay 700 frickin’ American dollars for a god-damn sweater. My eyes basically popped out of my head and onto my keyboard when I saw those prices. It’s just fabric! I don’t know anything about “streetwear” or whatever, but are those kind of extortionate prices normal? Do people pay that much so that people will know that they’re cool and also able to pay the equivalent of a small countries’ GDP for a shirt?
And no, I’m not going to get some Chinese knockoff crap. For one thing, I don’t support Commies, and for another, last time I ordered something from China I’m pretty sure it gave me lead poisoning. Not taking that risk again, the doctors say my IQ will never go back to its previous level.
