The Knicks (bad team) just beat the Pelicans (apparently also a bad team) solely due to the actions of one Emmanuel Mudiay and one Allonzo Trier. The only points scored in the fourth quarter for the Knicks besides those two were a bucket by Kevin Knox and a pair of free throws by Tim Hardaway. The other 23 were scored by an undrafted rookie and a player who was so bad that the team that drafted him traded him for Devin Harris.
I’ve done my share of dissing Mudiay. But, in my defense, so has everyone else. It’s hard not to diss him when bringing up any of his stats from his Denver days counts as a diss. He’s had good games, but his body of work as a whole is decidedly not good.
This year, however, I think he’s edging towards “decent”. He’s shooting at an unsustainable percentage considering his career mark is around 38 percent, but we’re deep enough into the season where maybe it isn’t a total fluke. Maybe he did get better! Maybe he shouldn’t just go back to China and put up 40 a game! Maybe he isn’t a bust!
