Everyone knows that the Celtics are kinda messed up right now. On the court, off the court, in the front office, there’s not much harmony in Boston right now. My solution: have the Celtics trade for Crowder, giving up one of their malcontents in the process. That can be the first step in rebuilding the hard-edged team that they had a few years ago.
Marcus Smart can’t be a hard-edged jagoff by himself. Well, he can, but he can’t use his jagoffiness to maintain order. But with Crowder alongside him also being a hard-edged jagoff, there would be no more dissent. No more chemistry problems. No more passive-aggressive behavior. No more lackadaisy effort on the court. Because if you screwed around, you’d have both Smart AND Crowder chewing you out and threatening you with physical violence.
The Jazz, as fun as they are, aren’t using Crowder’s edginess effectively. They’re too nice of a team, and he just doesn’t fit in as well as he would on a team that needs that caustic behavior covering an also caustic interior.
Supposedly there was something called the “trade deadline” that has come and gone. I don’t know much about the CBA, but I figure that since the Celtics as a franchise are making so much money that they can bribe Adam Silver and get a trade pushed through anyway. What’s a few million in bribes to key NBA officers when it’s your season on the line?
