Dennis Schroeder (Dënniß ßchrööder for the Germans out there, Guten Tag!) was hyped as the best pure point guard in the draft. That’s a nice way of saying that he can’t score at all. But he has good court vision and quickness, and everyone loves a selfless distributor on their team.
He’s not doing super well this year, but neither is any other rookie so it’s okay. He played a decent amount early in the season but his minutes have been taken away by Shelvin Mack, who is playing way better (which is weird because Mack has always sucked. Bad timing for Dennis).
With the Hawks eager to fight for playoff seeding we probably won’t get to see as much Schroeder as we want to end the season. But he’s the kind of player who will play in the Summer League and totally dominate. So we can look forward to that.
Editor’s note: the box score says 5 assists for Dennis. I say hooey. The 4th one was actually Mike Scott. Sorry for any disappointment this may have caused.
