For being the physical manifestation of my YouTube channel, Ersan Ilyasova hasn’t been playing very well at all. I chose this avatar when he was coming off a strong season where he was second in voting for Most Improved. He was good that year, but I think the toll of having his soul slowly siphoned away by a YouTube user is catching up to him. His three point shot has deserted him, and now that there are other competent rebounders on the team besides himself he’s not putting up the numbers in that area that he used to.
He’s off to another slow start this year, either because of or causing his low minutes. The Bucks have two young prospects occupying the forward positions, and he can’t really play center.
This game his jumper was falling, something that doesn’t happen much any more. It’s a relief to see; none of the Bucks other big men have shown any ability to consistently (or inconsistently) hit jumpers. If he can continue this, some contender will want him for their final championship push, and will be willing to give up a bunch of good stuff for him. Keep it up Arsen Ilyasov!
