Every time I do Derrick Favors highlights, the Jazz commentators go on about “He’s getting so much more confident” and “He wasn’t doing that a year ago” and “He’s improving before our eyes”. That’s all well and good, but if D-Faves was really improving at that rate, wouldn’t we have an All-Star by now?
One could argue that he should be an All-Star this year. It would be a convoluted and likely fallacious argument, but you could still make it. He’s putting up 16 and 9, great numbers for someone who used to be a bust. Just as a comparison, A.C. Green made the All-Star game in 1989 putting up 13 and 9. Yeah, he might have been the least-deserving All-Star of all time, but there is a precedent for someone like Favors getting in.
Oh, who am I kidding? He’d have to go to Australia before he’d get to be in an All-Star game.
