New nomination for the Worst Nickname Ever award: “Johnny Badger”.
I don’t even have to go into the myriad ways that this nickname sucks. Every conceivable facet, every angle from which this nickname could be approached, it all looks the same: like a big pile of badger feces.
Despite his nickname suckage, which is not his fault, Jon Leuer had a very good game tonight, producing chaos and then restraining that chaos with crisp passing and shooting. The commentators seemed to be happy, and for good reason; it is a rare occurrence for a Grizzlies bench player to have a good game.
I still don’t get why Jon doesn’t get a more featured role with his team. He had a really good stretch last year, and then had his heinie glued to the bench for the rest of the season. I may overhype him a little bit, but I do it for a reason. Him being good makes me angry at the Bucks for giving him up in exchange for Fatty Dalembert, and then I forget for at least a bit the Tobias Harris trade.
Oh damn, that triggered me. Tears alert.
