Rudy “Gogurt” Gobert has not yet made a shot outside of the paint during his time in the NBA. He has only attempted three. As admirable as it is to know one’s limitations and try to operate within them, the fact remains that Gobert will be merely a specialist player until he expands his range.
“What about Tyson Chandler? What about DeAndre Jordan?” You moan plaintively as visions of Gobert becoming MVP slowly vanish into obscurity.
Those players are pretty good, but they would be quite a bit better if they could hit a jumper. I’m not saying Gobert should go the Kanter route and start shooting threes, but even attempting a few jumpers would go a long way.
The good news is that he is still young and we can expect improvements in many areas of his game, and if everything else fails he can just dunk it from the free throw line.
