Pacers color guy Quinn Buckner is perhaps the best in the league and filling up space with his words. A lot of other broadcast crews get into lulls where nobody knows what to say, but not the Pacers crew. Quinn just talks and talks about whatever comes to mind, and I have to say, he’s pretty entertaining most of the time. He’s probably the second best thing to just not having any commentary at all.
The thing I most love about him is the guttural moans he lets out when something exciting (good or bad) happens on the court. His broadcast partner could be in the middle of a sentence and Quinn will just let fly with an “OOOOaaaaaahhhh” or a “Uuuhhhnnnnn”. Then, on dunks, he’ll go “AAAAAAAHHHHHHH” like he’s possessed by the malefic spirit of Carlos Boozer.
Unfortunately, C.J. Watson doesn’t do a lot of exciting stuff, so the only thing you get to hear in this video is a muffled “MMMmmmmmm” when he almost loses the ball. A theoretical collection of Paul George highlights would have a greater quantity of enticing sound bites, but let’s not talk about that.
