Anthony Bennett has all the tools to prove me wrong when I say this: he is simply a colossal bust. He’s big, he has some touch on his jumpers, and he rebounds pretty good. If he was a late first-rounder or even a late lottery pick, people would be okay with his performance so far. But the Cavs screwed up and took him first, thus placing higher expectations on him than he could reasonably be expected to deliver upon. Now he can’t even get consistent minutes on the Terrible Timberpuppies.
I think in a few years he will be a decent role-player and might actually be a significant positive for some team. He’ll probably bulk up like Joey Graham and abuse people down low. That kind of average performance will still make him a bust, but he won’t be the biggest bust since Joe Alexander.
