Man. DownToBuck just can’t catch any breaks.
So, a few weeks ago, I did preliminary filming for the music video for my rap song “Reppin’ the Hood feat. Rodney Hood”. Me and Rodney went down to Mississippi with a camera guy to really capture the gritty old-school feel of the track. I’m not going to bore you with details, but Rodney got a little excited holding a real gun, and he caused some property damage down there. We had to ditch the cameraman and he got arrested. All the tape we had recorded was confiscated as evidence. We were all so blazed. I was laying down the rhymes so thick, and it’s all gone.
Plus, my mom is pissed that I came back without her camcorder. Sorry moms.
I guess I should count myself lucky that the police haven’t come to arrest me, too. That’s about the only good thing that’s come out of this whole screwed-up sitch. I thought the label would be down to float me some more money so we could give it another go (this time with definitely no gunfire) but when I approached them about it they actually just terminated my contract.
What gives? The rap game is supposed to be about representing how things really are in the hood. Sometimes the hood has gunshots and marijuana and bikinied babes. I don’t know why they’re so upset. Things weren’t like this for NWA in the 80’s, I’m telling you right now.
So, back to square one for me and Rodney. Those label execs ain’t about this life.
