Since joining the 76ers, Ish Smith has been one of the premiere point guard chuckers in the league. He is lagging behind only known scoring machines like Curry (duh), Lillard, Westbrook, and Irving. Meanwhile, he’s about neck-and-neck with chuckmaster supreme Derrick Rose.
One of these things is not like the other. Hint: Ish Smith is the thing I’m referencing. His quickness allows him to get a lot of looks from midrange and it enables him to slice to the cup any time he desires, but he’s not good enough at converting the shots he gets to make it worth taking sixteen attempts per game.
This game he gets a pass because there was no Jahlil to give the ball to. But it’s been going on even when Ish shares the floor with other players who could credibly be called “scoring threats”. Good news for highlight makers like me, but bad news for the Sixers ever winning another game.
