Dewayne Dedmon is, from what I can tell, just a worse-paid and less-featured version of DeAndre Jordan who doesn’t get his apparent skills inflated by playing with Chris Paul. Dedmon can catch lobs, rebound, and block shots just like his more well-known counterpart. He just doesn’t get to start because of some foreign guy who likes to shoot jumpers and is seven feet tall. But now that foreign guy is injured, and we get to see the REAL Dedmon. The Dedmon who can roll to the basket for lobs and otherwise get out of the way to let the other scorers on the team do the scoring.
The only question is, how much will this dude get paid in the offseason? And will his checks say “Orlando Magic” on them or will some other team be writing those checks?
My predictions: Dedmon will get between three and five million per year. And I don’t know what team will sign him because every team could use somebody like him to just play with energy and catch alley-oops and, uh, catch more alley-oops. I’m going with Boston just because they don’t have anybody on that team who catches oops.
